Yo, guys! Have you seen American Idol this week? It’s gettin’ crazy! The show officially dropped its Top 5 American Idol contestants after a crazy live episode on Sunday night. More than 20 million votes came in from fans, and now the competition is gettin’ tighter than ever. Two contestants had to go home, and now the final five are still in the game. The stakes are real now, peeps. Let’s break it down.

American Idol

The Magic of Disney: A Special Episode

Okay, Sunday night’s show went all out with a Disney night on American Idol! It was like Disneyland meets Idol. The top seven contestants performed classic Disney songs, and guess who came to help them out? Lin-Manuel Miranda. Yeah, the Lin-Manuel Miranda! He’s the guy behind Hamilton and wrote the songs for movies like Moana, Encanto, and Mufasa: The Lion King. I mean, can you imagine working with him?

Lin-Manuel was all about making sure the contestants stayed true to the original songs but also added their own little twist to it. Thunderstorm Artis (yeah, that’s his name) was totally vibin’ with Lin, saying it was so special to work with him. He said, “When you’re covering Disney songs, you don’t wanna mess it up too much. But you also gotta make it your own, and that’s what Lin helped with.”

And guess what else? They also did a special tribute to Mother’s Day, and each contestant sang a song for their momma.
