Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Takes Blame After 5 Turnovers in Loss vs Chargers
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts blame himself after 5 turnover game in 22-19 loss vs Chargers. Offense struggle, O-line injuries, run game weak and chemistry look broken. Full match breakdown and NFC East update.
Philadelphia Eagles again play like old broken sled, it move little bit smooth then suddenly fall down and crash.
In Monday night game vs Los Angeles Chargers, nothing working good for offense and whole unit just falling apart.
Chargers win this tight match 22-19 and Eagles fans feel very frustrate.
After game, head coach Nick Sirianni say this loss really stink bad. He tell media that turnovers was not normal for
this team and at last everything coming down to coaching and execution. But “some turnovers” actually mean
five turnovers from quarterback Jalen Hurts alone, which totally change game story.
Crazy Double Turnover Play From Jalen Hurts
One play in second quarter was super crazy and show how bad night going for Hurts. He throw interception to
defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand, then Hand start running back but he also fumble ball. Hurts pick it up again,
and then he also fumble on same play. So same play have two turnover from same player.
Elias Sports Bureau report this is first time from at least 1978 that any player make
two turnovers on same play. This kind of record no QB want in his name.

Hurts Accept Blame: ‘I Didn’t Play Well Enough’
Jalen Hurts talk honest after game. He say he simply don’t play good enough and he admit there was too many
turnovers. He say offense have lot of chances when they cross other side of 50 yard line but he still not able
to put team in end zone for enough points.
Whole night his throws going high and wide, specially over middle of field. Timing and touch look off. Receivers
also not helping much, with few drops that kill important drives. It feel like offense never get in proper rhythm.
Very fitting that his last pass of game in overtime also end bad. On doorstep of possible game-winning touchdown,
ball get tipped and end up as interception, finishing night in sad way for Eagles and for Hurts.
Stat Line Show How Rough Night Was
Hurts final stat line for game:
- 21 completions on 40 attempts
- 240 passing yards
- 1 passing touchdown
- 4 interceptions
- 31.2 passer rating
This is first time in his career he throw four interceptions in one game. Before that, from Week 1 to Week 13 this
season, he never had more than two INT in one game. This match become also his fifth career start with passer
rating under 40, which is second most since 2020, only Mac Jones have more such bad games.
Hurts say everything start with him – how he play, how he lead and how he figure out solution under pressure. He
say there is no excuse and he must be the guy who find way to win close games, not lose them with turnover.
Broken Offense: O-Line Injuries And Weak Run Game
Big problem for Eagles this season is offensive line. Many players banged up and unit not dominating like last
year. Because of this, run game not working so strong and team cannot control clock and tempo.
Saquon Barkley finish with 20 carries for 122 yard, which look nice on paper, but real story is different. One big
52-yard touchdown run and another 19-yard burst make number look higher. On his other 18 carries, he average only
2.8 yard per carry. On eight of those runs he gain zero or even negative yard.
When first down runs not working, offense stuck in long second and third down. That put Hurts in very tough
passing situation again and again. On this night, he not able to overcome it.
Offensive Chemistry Look Rotten
Watching this game, sometimes Hurts throw pure laser passes, like his overtime dart to DeVonta Smith. But other
times, it look like he never practice with his receivers. Timing off, routes not sharp, ball coming where nobody
expecting. Chemistry feel rotten inside this offense right now.
Drops from wide receivers and tight end also make everything worse. Even when Hurts finally deliver good throw,
sometimes drive still die because ball not catch proper. Whole offensive unit look like they not on same page.
Coach Sirianni Still Support His Quarterback
Head coach Nick Sirianni defend Hurts in press conference. He remind everybody that football is ultimate team game
and never only one player fault. But he also accept that quarterback hold ball on every play so he naturally carry
big part of responsibility.
Sirianni say he must also do better job to help Hurts – with play design, game plan and putting him in easier
situation. First they check coaching, then execution. He admit turnovers are killer and this game was
uncharacteristic for how Eagles usually protect ball.
Report also say Sirianni spend more time with offense this week because offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo under
lot of heat for poor performance. But even with head coach more involved, result on field still not much better.
Eagles Offense Going Backward After Bye Week
Instead of improving after Week 9 bye, Eagles offense actually going backward. Since bye week, points scored in
each game are:
- 10 points
- 16 points
- 21 points
- 15 points
- 19 points
In today NFL, those numbers not enough for team with Super Bowl dream. Opposing defense not fear this offense like
last year. Only reason Eagles still in most game is because Vic Fangio’s defense playing lights out and keeping
score close.
If defense was average or bad, this current three-game losing streak probably already become five-game disaster.
Right now, defense is only thing stopping full collapse.
NFC East Race Getting Tighter But Eagles Still Favorite
With this third straight loss, NFC East division race suddenly become more interesting. Dallas Cowboys still have
small hope to catch Eagles if Philly keep slipping. Fans and media already starting to talk about pressure and
possible changes if offense don’t wake up quickly.
Still, according to Next Gen Stats, Eagles have around 92% chance to win division even after this ugly game. So
mathematically they still in strong position. But if they want to go deep in playoffs and fight for Super Bowl,
they cannot play like this.
For now, message from Jalen Hurts is clear: he know he must be better. Turnovers need to stop, chemistry must
improve and whole offense need to find its old swagger again. Otherwise, this season can slip away very fast, just
like that old broken sled sliding out of control.
