Bubba Wallace Makes History with Win at Indianapolis
Bubba Wallace, driving a car owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, scored a come-from-behind victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Bubba Wallace took a big NASCAR race Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He’s the first Black driver to win a major race on the track’s main oval.
Such race is the Brickyard 400. It is one of the largest in NASCAR. It was Wallace’s first win since 2022 so that was a special victory.
The race was tough. There was rain, two additional restarts and Kyle Larson
With 14 laps to go, Wallace had a big lead. Then rain caused the race to stop. The cars waited for 20 minutes before starting again. Wallace stayed in front but another crash caused another delay. Even with all the pressure, he didn’t lose focus.
Wallace was also upset on Saturday when he lost the top qualifying spot. But on Sunday, he made sure to win.
His team, 23XI Racing, is owned by basketball legend Michael Jordan and driver Denny Hamlin. They are also in a legal fight with NASCAR right now.
Other race highlights:
- Ty Gibbs won the In-Season Challenge and earned $1 million.
- Joey Logano was doing well but had a flat tire and car trouble.
- Ryan Blaney won Stage 2, and Chase Briscoe won Stage 1.
- Wallace finished ahead of Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin. It was a proud and unforgettable day in NASCAR.
