Ok so… anime just went and took over the US box office like it owns the place. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle dropped this weekend and wow, numbers are insane. Like, biggest anime opening ever here. Not even close.

Massive First Day

Friday alone it pulled $33 mil – and that’s with $11.4M just from previews. Now tracking says weekend gonna land somewhere $56M to $65M. Sony/Crunchyroll being all “let’s keep it low” but c’mon, fans showing up in droves, could be higher easy.

Why Everyone Showing Up

  • Final Arc Hype: This is part 1 of the 3‑movie finale, the Infinity Castle arc from the manga. Fans been waiting YEARS for this.
  • Looks Gorgeous: Ufotable went nuts with the animation, IMAX screens packed out.
  • Word of Mouth: Critics loving it, fans giving it an “A” CinemaScore. Social media full of “you gotta see this” posts.

Already Huge Worldwide

It’s not just here – movie already made like $280M globally before even hitting US. Japan release back in July was massive, broke IMAX records there too. Now North America IMAX also breaking records. Basically, wherever it plays, it’s killing it.

US Weekend Top 5 Right Now

  1. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle – $56M–$65M
  2. The Conjuring: Last Rites – $26M–$27M (2nd weekend)
  3. Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale – $19M+
  4. The Long Walk – $11M–$12M
  5. Toy Story (30th Anniversary) – $3.2M–$3.8M

About the Movie

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, animated by Ufotable. Voice cast – Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro), Akari Kitō (Nezuko), Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu), Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Inosuke) – all back. Story is Demon Slayer Corps going all in vs Muzan in the crazy shifting Infinity Castle. Stakes maxed out.

Why This Matters in US

Anime films used to be like “limited event, 1 week only” here. Now? This thing’s opening bigger than some Marvel sequels. Shows studios that anime can pull blockbuster numbers in America if you treat it like a real event.

If you in US and even kinda into anime, this is the one to see in theaters. Loud crowd, big screen, subs or dubs – doesn’t matter. Demon Slayer Infinity Castle just made history here, and it’s only part 1. Two more to go. Buckle up.
