Her daughter, Oscar winner Laura Dern, announced Diane’s death saying her mom “passed away with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, Calif.” The family is heartbroken.

Diane Ladd and Robert Charles Hunter married in 1999, and they were partners in life and work. That very year they also co-founded their production company, Excel Entertainment. Hunter died on July 31, 2025, while visiting his children in Fort Worth, Texas. Diane shared a screenshot of The Hollywood Reporter article about his death on Instagram, showing her pain without many words.
