NFL Investigates Giants’ Handling of Jaxson Dart Concussion Scare vs Eagles
The NFL is reviewing how the New York Giants handled rookie QB Jaxson Dart’s concussion evaluation after a hard hit against the Philadelphia Eagles. The league wants to ensure proper concussion protocol was followed
The NFL is taking a closer look at how the New York Giants handled a possible concussion for their rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart during their recent game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
What Actually Happened??
In the third quarter, Dart got rocked by a big hit and went down for a moment. The medical staff quickly rushed over and took him into the blue tent on the sidelines that’s where they check players for concussions.
A few minutes later, Dart came back out and was cleared to return to the game. But the quick turnaround caught everyone’s attention fans, reporters, and even the league wondering if the Giants followed all the concussion rules properly.
The NFL Steps In
After the game, the NFL announced that it’s reviewing how the Giants handled the situation. They’re working with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) to go over every detail like what steps were taken, who made the calls, and whether the medical team had enough time to properly evaluate Dart before letting him play again.
Basically, the league wants to make sure the player’s safety wasn’t rushed just to keep him on the field.
During the game, cameras caught Coach Brian Daboll standing near the medical tent while Dart was being checked out. Afterward, Daboll admitted he might’ve stepped in a bit too much. He even apologized to the team doctors, saying he was just worried about his quarterback and got caught up in the moment.
He told reporters that emotions were high and all he wanted was to make sure Dart was okay but he also admitted he probably should’ve stayed back.
Dart’s Comeback
Despite that hit, Dart came back and played lights-out. He completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards and threw one touchdown. On top of that, he ran 13 times for 58 yards and even scored a rushing touchdown. The Giants ended up beating the Eagles 34–17, and Dart was a huge part of that win.
The NFL has been super strict about head injuries in recent years. They’ve had too many cases where players were cleared too soon and suffered worse injuries later. So even if Dart feels fine, the league wants to make sure every step of the concussion protocol was handled by the book.
If the review shows that something was skipped or rushed, the Giants could face consequences or the NFL might tighten up its rules even more.
For now, the investigation is still ongoing, and everyone’s waiting to hear what the final outcome will be. But one thing’s clear: the league doesn’t want to take any chances when it comes to player safety.
